championlakesThe 2023 IOM Australian Championship will be held at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre located approx 33km to the SE of Perth. The venue spans over 55 hectares and the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre regularly hosts training and competitions for radio sailing, rowing, canoeing, dragon boating, triathlon and more.  With parkland surrounds, barbeque facilities and dedicated public swimming areas the venue is also popular amongst the local community.

Getting there is easy, from the city of Perth travel south on the Kwinana Freeway to the Armadale Road exit, continue on Armadale Road to Tonkin Highway (turning left). Within a few minutes you will turn right on to Champion Drive then turn left on to Lake Road and then finally turn left onto Henley Drive. Cross over the bridge onto the island and you are there! 

clriggingRigging is available on grassed areas where you are able to also place your gazebo to protect you from the sun, parking is not permitted on any grassed area however vehicle access is close.

cllauchLaunching is 'dry' with a number of permanent pontoons to enable concurrent launching and retrieval of boats without delay.

Weather is traditionally dry in Perth throughout the WA summer but you can expect it to be hot! This time of the year temperatures will be in the mid to high 30's so be prepared, sun screen & adequate water are a must and we will also help you out with this.

Again traditionally the wind is expected to be from the East in the mornings and can be quite strong as the land starts to heat up, at some point in the day you would expect the transition to the South/South West sea breeze to occur and that is where we may see Champion Lakes at it's best. If the Freo Doctor makes it's way inland you can expect some good B rig conditions with the breeze blowing parallel to the shore. Of course none of us have a direct link to the wind gods and now we promise this it probably won't occur (lets hope it does!).
